Currently railway=station is rendered above public_transport=platform, which means that if the station is mapped as an area (to tell which switches and tracks are within a station and where the station begins/ends as suggested by OpenRailwayMap and others) platforms will disapear.

Since the building of a railway-station would be correctly tagged with building=train_station instead of railway=station building=yes (which is sometimes used by unexperienced mappers) I don't know any case where the current rendering would be better.

Example: [http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=49.403893&lon=8.674996&zoom=18&layers=M Heidelberg Central Station on Mapnik] (Platforms are invisible because of the railway=station, which is rendered above), [http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=49.403893&lon=8.675007&zoom=18&layers=T Heidelberg Central Station on Gravitystorm Transport] (platforms are visible, since they are not rendering railway=station as area)

I'm suggesting to render railway=station below platforms to solve this.

The correct place to report bugs against the "Standard" stylesheet on openstreetmap.org is the [https://github.com/gravitystorm/openstreetmap-carto/issues openstreetmap-carto issue tracker]

public_transport=platform is not rendered at all, so it's not under anything. For that feature request, see gravitystorm/openstreetmap-carto#311
