Revert the change of the user links (now collapsed to a drop down menu) #4965
Comments
Author: aseerel4c26 /edit: please, thank you! |
Author: tmcw On GitHub, you will find the relevant ticket, that includes discussion and justification: openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website#447 |
Author: aseerel4c26 thanks, awesome! Loosing functionality, again... The page is not intended to be usable, right? Just needs to look(!) good. I am not on a mobile device, what should I do with all the empty space? |
Author: tmcw Please behave yourself, and be polite. Thanks! |

It is annoying. |
Author: aseerel4c26 by the way: newbies may not even see the user links now. They also may no see that they have new messages since there is just a number beneath the user name. Before there was a number beneath "inbox". And they at least saw that there is an inbox. |
Author: aseerel4c26 [http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/File:Browsing.png directly accessible user links] in the space which is available anyway. |
Author: aseerel4c26 http://www.mapbox.com/blog/improving-openstreetmap-dot-org/ "more functionality in a smaller, nicer looking package." Where is the "more functionality"?! |
Author: aseerel4c26 Could someone please give me at least a JavaScript patch which expands that menu to the classical horizontal list of links? |
Author: aseerel4c26 Still no explanation why we need to loose functionality just for having a compact menu which is not needed as there is enough space. |
Author: iandees Spamming the developers is certainly not the right way to get what you want. You've made your point, we've decided to move forward instead of backwards. We welcome patches. |

I did not spam anyone. I did only add comments here. Patches? Is a revert that hard? |
Author: aseerel4c26 I've tried to add "display: inline;" to the ul and li css, but had no success ... |
Author: aseerel4c26 Yeay, now even the help and wiki link are hidden behind a sub menu. And the map link is ... for those who know ... the osm logo. I love how things get better. ;-) |

Is there someone who needs to change something because it can be changed? Gnah...
Why a menu? There is enough space on top of the osm.org page for the old list of links. Direct access, less clicks, no new user guides needed.
