Previously, links like the following would display the specified bounding box (as a yellow rectangle) and zoom the map to best fit that box:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?minlon=0.8969&minlat=52.3616&maxlon=1.1020&maxlat=52.3865&layers=C&box=yes

Since the launch of the latest osm.org redesign (or possibly longer) these links have stopped working. Instead no bbox is shown, and the map view is just the last place you viewed on osm.org.

This breaks existing links and bookmarks, so please can the previous functionality be restored.

This is just the same as #5050 that you just opened, it's just an alternate syntax for historical reasons.
