Hello,

Nominatim should link localised keywords to existing english keywords used as tags in OSM, like "station" being linked to "gare" (french word for station), "bus stop" to "arrt de bus", and so on.

It would make us able to find these items when querying Nominatim in our native languages when different from English (currently most of the time I'm not able to find them).

This could be done using localisation files giving matching equivalents for each language, and would be very helpful for making trips using public transportation networks, but also for routing in general.

Nominatim already uses localized keywords to saech for specific types of objects (as defined by their tagging), e.g. you can search for [http://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/search.php?q=station+Gare+de+Lyon station Gare de Lyon] or [http://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/search.php?q=bahnhof+Gare+de+Lyon Bahnhof Gare de Lyon]. The definitions for these keywords are here: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Nominatim/Special_Phrases

What does not work is a partial translation of a name, i.e. you cannot search for 'Lyon station' and expect to find the Gare de Lyon. That's intentional because often such an automatic translation produces strange things (you wouldn't search for 'Gare Union in Chicago').

So I would need to type "Gare Gare de Lyon" to find it? (as "gare" is French "station" equivalent)
