I assume that most mappers will only put the entrance and exit of an underground or multi-storey parking facility on the map. For viewing and navigation knowing where the entrance of an underground parking is, is more important than knowing where the actual parking area is. Hence it makes sense to render a "P" icon on the node tagged as amenity=parking_entrance. I suggest to use the same icon as for a surface parking.
I will ask the maker of OsmAnd to do the same.
I have selected Mapnik as component, but the feature should actually be present in all map renderers.
