Reverse address lookup no response #5355
Comments
Author: TomH That probably means you have ignored all the error codes telling you that you are abusing it for long enough that an IP block has been added against your IP address. |
Author: mtmail Hi, The blocking of IP addresses is automated. It will be released within 24h. See http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Nominatim_usage_policy |
Author: TomH But once you are unblocked pay attention to the "429 Too Many Requests" responses and slow down when you get them! |
Author: WayneDRussell Hi, What is the best way to test for this error? Wayne |
Author: TomH Well it's the HTTP status returned by the request, so just check that in the normal way in your client. |
Author: WayneDRussell Hi, I will change this to: Will this change enable me to return the error for reporting purposes? What other errors need to be considered in the request? Wayne |
Author: TomH No, but as I don't know what "file_get_contents" does I can't help any further. You need to ask a programmer. The "429" is metadata, not contents though, so you will need to look at the response object before extracting the content from it. |
Author: WayneDRussell Hi, I can now detect when I receive 'HTTP/1.1 429 Too Many Requests' When will I be able to send new requests and not receive the error? Wayne |
Author: TomH Probably when you obey http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Nominatim_usage_policy... To start with are you sending a proper user agent with your requests? |
Author: WayneDRussell Hi, This is now working correctly. Thank you for your assistance. Wayne |
