#612 closed enhancement (fixed)

Create OpenLayers.Layer.OSM.Maplint

Reported by: Knut Arne Bjørndal Owned by: Tom Hughes
Priority: minor Milestone:
Component: website Version:
Keywords: OpenStreetMap.js, openlayers Cc:

Description

Create OpenLayers?.Layer.OSM.Maplint. Similar to OpenLayers?.Layer.OSM.Osmarender, but not a base layer, and the 404 handler should make missing tiles transparent.

Is the maplint layer actually reliable now then? Last time I looked at it lots of the tiles were not transparent so it was unusable.

Replying to tom@compton.nu:

Looks fine, I scrolled around large parts of Europe for a while and didn't see any problems like that.

One thing I noticed is that it does weird things in lowzoom (I don't think anybody even tries to make it work there), so it might be a good idea to look at the possibility to disable it for z<12. crschmidt figures it should be possible:

21:08 < crschmidt> Sort of. the calculateInRange function could be overridden

to do something like that, I think.

(In [6195]) Add a Maplint layer (OpenLayers?.Layer.OSM.Maplint) class. Note that the t@h server currently serves solid grey tiles for tiles which are not in the database which limits the utility of this.

Closes #612.
